Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate the COP of a refrigeration cycle?

COP = refrigeration effect ÷ compressor work. Evodelta computes both from CoolProp-accurate refrigerant properties once you enter evaporator/condenser temperatures, superheat, subcooling, and isentropic efficiency.

What is the difference between a single-stage and cascade refrigeration system?

Single-stage systems are practical down to roughly -40 °C. Below that, two-stage cascade systems with separate refrigerant pairs (e.g. R-410A high stage, R-23 low stage) maintain efficiency. Evodelta models both.

Which refrigerant has the lowest GWP in 2026?

Natural refrigerants lead: ammonia (R-717, GWP 0), CO₂ (R-744, GWP 1), and propane (R-290, GWP 3). Use Evodelta's refrigerant comparison tool to see COP and capacity trade-offs.

Is Evodelta a free CoolPack alternative?

Yes. Evodelta is free for standard cycle calculations and works in any browser with no installation — no Windows-only desktop app required.
